Dear Friend of Goonj,

As I write to you this month, my thoughts are with the many communities across India currently dealing with floods and landslides. The impact of these disasters is still being felt, but the strength and spirit of the people on the ground inspire us every day.

The rains may be slowing down but the work of rebuilding and long-term support is just beginning. We are reaching out with essential support across 9 states, with a growing need for aid and resources. Your unwavering support has been the backbone of our disaster response, allowing us to reach even the most remote areas.

With October fast approaching, I'm filled with hope as we prepare for our annual Joy of Giving month. This event is the core of our material contribution drive and is instrumental in both disaster preparedness and rehabilitation efforts, as well as our other initiatives. We invite you to join this month-long festival of giving. Together, let’s carry the spirit of “Dil ki suno... Goonj karo!”

Our call ‘Dil ki Suno, GOONJ.. Karo’ celebrates meaningful impact the Goonj way! Come together to participate in the act of mindful giving by contributing your surplus materials and money for large scale rural development, dignity and disaster mitigation.

Sanjha Meet -Strength in Grassroots Collaboration

Goonj’s National Sanjha Meet which was held from July 31 to August 2, 2024, here we gathered with grassroot organisations from across India to co-create solutions for lasting social change. Together, we explored community strengths, navigated challenges, and designed innovative solutions that align with our shared mission.

Chaupal 2024, Bengaluru- - 25 Years of People, Purpose, and Possibilities

On August 4th, 2024,we celebrated our 25th Anniversary Chaupal with the vibrant community of Bengaluru. Together, we reflected on our collective journey and envisioned future possibilities.

Khwaab Merey - Empowering Youth for Social Good

On August 10, 2024, Goonj launched Khwaab Merey at the University School of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun, inspiring over 250 students to align their dreams with a sense of purpose and community service. Recognising the critical role of youth in shaping a sustainable and equitable future, impactful talks and vibrant discussions were held, igniting a culture of volunteerism and social responsibility.

Disaster Exhibition at IIIT Delhi - From August 6-9, 2024, we held a Disaster Photo Exhibition at IIIT Delhi, featuring Anshu Gupta's two-decade journey through various disasters across India, capturing both the immediate devastation and the evolving landscape of recovery. The exhibition provided the students with deep insights into the realities of disaster response and the role of photography in capturing these stories. Inspired by the initiative, the students decided to take action, leading to a collection drive for Goonj’s Rahat (Disaster Mitigation) initiative.
